Double boat dive with Kirra Dive.

Diver grades: This dive is suitable for all diver grades.

Meeting point: Kirra Dive, Tweed Heads NSW. There should be adequate parking at the venue. As usual, the early bird catches the worm.

Training: Any training requirements will be dependent on the availability of instructors on the day. Please submit your training requests to either myself or the acting Training Officer as soon as possible.

Equipment: All dive gear, including two (2) scuba cylinders filled with your choice of breathing gas. Tanks and weights can be rented from the shop for $20 (2 tanks, Air)

An SMB and reel are required for the drift dive. Divers should be confident to deploying them. Divers should also carry knife/ line cutter, whistle and snorkel. 

I will inform the shop on how many tanks we need, please use the form provided.

Other Stuff: Bring any warm clothing you require during the surface interval.

This is a 'wet' boat, so bring suitable clothing/ hat if needed. Bring the usual sun protective items, i.e. sun hat, sun creme, etc. 

There will be little shelter from any swell on this site, so if you require sea sickness medication, please take it in advance!

Costs: The cost is about $90 for 2 dives (not including tanks). As dive is only a few weeks away, please make full payment to the Club account after registration to confirm your place. If you pull out of the trip after this it is up to you to find a suitable replacement. Extra costs for gear hire.

Travel: Drive time will be approximately 1 hour 30 minutes from Brisbane. If required we will help arrange car pooling. Please let me know if you are happy to drive and how many people (plus dive kit) you think you can fit in your car.

Waitlist: If the trip is fully booked on the website and you want to be put on a waitlist (in-case of drop outs or more spaces being added) please send me an email.

Arrival at the shop.

Board boat and depart for Cook Island Aquatic Reserve. This involves a short boat trip along the Tweed River, with life vests donned whilst we drive over the Tweed River Bar.

Dive 1 (45-60 minutes, pending site conditions) Site Briefing. Site will be dependent on the boat skippers mooring location, generally the site will be between 12 and 20 metres deep, with a slight current. As this is a marine reserve many of the animals are quite unfazed by divers and will usually go about their business. Good photo opportunities.

Back on boat for surface interval.

Dive 2 (45-60 minutes, pending site conditions) Again, a site briefing. Site will be dependent on the boat skippers mooring location, generally the site will be between 12 and 20 metres deep, with a slight current. A chance to explore another area of the Island.

All personnel returned to boat. Confirm numbers, leave dive site for return to shore.

All personnel ashore. De-kit the boat, washing facilities for gear will be available. Also a 'bracing' shower for those who dare!
