Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

Charity swim relay, joining with other teams and individuals to try and swim the length of the reef! Registration is $10 per person or $25 for family (Up to 2 adults and 2 children) to the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO).  To register go to this webpage https://swimforreef.everydayhero.com/au/the-bs-ac-box-jellies and click on "Join Team" (you will need a credit card to pay for the registration). DON'T SELECT REGISTER FIRST. SELECT JOIN TEAM FIRST.

You are strongly encouraged to get friends and family to sponsor you as the EDO runs off the smell of an oily rag and they are working tirelessly to pursue legal means of stopping the Adani coal mine that is one of the biggest threats to our reef.

Meet 11.30 for pre-swim photos - would be great this year to be in fancy dress - (or at least Brisbane BSAC t-shirts!) any suggestions?

It doesn't matter how quickly you can swim and you can swim with floaties or, even better to get as many laps in as possible, mask, fins and snorkels! Now last year we 'bent' the rues by having multiple people swimming at once. Apparently it must be a relay (And as we shall be at the main pool, other teams will be watching!!)

You don't have to come all day, but we will need people to take turns in counting the laps swum in between swimming efforts. (I have a counter somewhere) *****When you register, let me know when you intend to be available to swim so we can try and fill the whole session and decide the order of the relay**** (otherwise we'll make it up as we go along like last year!).  Bring your family, a picnic a chair, your camera, a book, sunscreen and make a day of it!

Afterwards,  I suggest we may need to retire to a local place of beverages and food - there are masses of good places in West End!
