Marine cleanup long weekend trip to Stradbroke Island with URGQ and Point Lookout Scuba Charters - 15th to 17th June 2018

The plan will be to conduct clean up dives from Kens boat (aka Duck 1) out at the various reefs and bommies accessible from the beach, while Diver 1 (the URGQ boat) will be used to support shore dives along the rock wall at Amity.

Due to the task loading involved we will be limiting participation in this trip to Experienced Ocean Diver and above. However, not all dive sites may be suitable for all divers due to the depths and dive conditions involved. If you are unsure please talk to our Diving Officer.

There are 6 spots available in the house for BSAC-ers who would like to join the trip. However, if you have alternative accommodation you are welcome to join in with the shore dives at Amity. It looks like URGQ will be going over on Friday morning rather than taking the usual BSAC Friday evening ferry.

Proposed Dives

Friday 15th  Diver 1 - (1) x Dive on Amity Rock Wall,  Duck 1 - (1) x Dive Shag Rock 

Saturday 16th  Diver 1 - (2) x Dives on Amity Rock Wall,   Duck 1 - (2) x Dives - Flat Rock, Boat Rock

Sunday 17th  Diver 1 - (2) Dives on Amity Rock Wall,   Duck 1 - (2) Dives - Manta Ray Bommie, Middle Reef

As always the weather, tides, and diver experience will determine which sites can be visited.

Organiser: Paul Harrison at URGQ, Laura to coordinate with URGQ, but we will be looking for a Dive Leader to supervise BSAC events on Straddie over the weekend.

Costs: The weekend will be subsidised using the URGQ Marine Cleanup grant money. Diving and accommodation will be subsidised by 50%, all food prepared at Ken's will also be paid for. Therefore double boat dive = $50/day, accommodation = $12.50/night

Extra costs will be for snacks and possibly ferry costs. Please BYO alcohol etc.
