Sharks. The word alone has the potential to invoke fear and anxiety. They are also one of the most polarising and politicised species to roam our planet.
Join marine biologist Dr Blake Chapman as she discusses her topical book Shark Attacks, published by the CSIRO. Blake will talk about the science of shark attacks including myths, misunderstandings and human fear. She will draw on first-hand accounts from shark attack survivors and those affected by shark attacks to explore the individual and public impacts of these rare but tragic events.
Books will be available for purchase on the day, or bring your copy from home for Blake to sign.
The talk is free to attend but you must get a ticket in advance in addition to rsvping to this event with BSAC. As it is a public event friends and family are also welcome to come along. If there is interest we can go somewhere for lunch afterwards.
To reserve your place visit Eventbrite or phone the library on 07 3403 4166.
