Breaking News... we went diving! Neither COVID or the weather got in our way this time. We had a great morning out with Manta Lodge.
Based on the weather forecast on Saturday we were amazed that the trip was a 'Go'. Surprisingly the bay was glassy when we lined up to catch the 5.55am water taxi, but by the time we were ready for the launch the top conditions had turned 'a little windy' which made for a bouncy, cold and wet ride out to Flat Rock. Once underwater, where it was lovely and calm (and warmer than topside!) we had a leisurely swim around the Shark Gutters, spotting several Grey Nurse Sharks, a large cowtail ray, and a lazy eagle ray. We then bounced our way back to the shelter of Shag Rock for morning tea. Our second dive was spent looking for smaller critters hiding in the rocky cracks, plus apparently some cuttlefish (which I missed) and the usual clouds of assorted silver and yellow fish. It was a great return to diving and the new club hoodies were a welcome addition to the dive gear. Thanks Hannah for arranging both :-)
